How This Website Handles Your Data

Information collected

You do not need an account to use this website. If you send me a message through the contact form, I receive the details you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, subject, and message. The form also checks your IP address to help stop spam and repeated submissions, but it is not included in the message I receive.

Contact form delivery

Contact form messages are sent to me using Brevo's transactional email service. That means the information in your message passes through Brevo so the email can be delivered, then it is stored in the email account I use to receive enquiries. Brevo handles that delivery under its own privacy policy and data-processing arrangements.

Brevo may keep delivery logs or email previews for a period of time, depending on the retention settings for the service and any security or legal requirements that apply to it. Brevo provides information about its transactional email retention controls if you want to read more about that.

Technical data

Like most websites, the web server or hosting setup may process basic technical details such as your browser, device information, IP address, and the pages requested. I use this kind of information for running the site, keeping it secure, and troubleshooting problems. It is not used to build visitor profiles.

To limit repeated contact form submissions, the site temporarily stores a one-way hash based on the visitor's IP address. This is normally kept for about 15 minutes and removed when the rate-limit records are next cleaned up. The website may also keep limited operational logs, such as the message subject, email domain, hashed IP address, delivery status, and technical error details. The message itself is not written to these website logs.

I do not use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking on this website.

How long information is kept

I keep contact form messages and replies only for as long as I reasonably need them. For normal enquiries, I aim to review and delete the correspondence within 12 months of the last relevant message.

I may keep a message for longer if it relates to an ongoing professional conversation, if I need it for appropriate records, or if there is a security, legal, or dispute-related reason to keep it. Website logs are kept for troubleshooting and security, then removed through normal server or hosting log rotation, or during a manual review. Brevo's delivery records follow the provider retention arrangements described above.

Cookies and local settings

Some accessibility and display preferences, such as contrast mode, larger text, or reduced motion, may be saved locally in your browser. This lets the site remember your settings if you come back to the website. These settings are used only for your experience on this site.
